Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about working with Cityweb, from cost and timelines to what happens after your website launches.
Pricing and Cost
How much does a website cost in Ireland?
It depends on what your business needs. A professional brochure website typically starts around €1,600–€3,000. eCommerce stores generally start from €3,500 and increase depending on the number of products and features required. More complex builds — membership sites, online course platforms, or custom functionality — are quoted on a project basis after an initial consultation.
The best way to get an accurate figure is to get in touch for a free conversation about what you need. I will give you a clear, honest quote with no surprises.
See a full breakdown of pricing and what's includedWhat's included in the price?
Every project includes design, development, mobile optimisation, basic on-page SEO, and a period of post-launch support. Depending on the package, content creation, logo design, and ongoing care plans can also be included. Everything is agreed upfront so you know exactly what you are getting.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Most projects are split into two payments, a deposit at the start and the balance on completion. For larger projects, a staged payment schedule can be arranged. Just ask and we will find something that works.
Will there be ongoing costs after my website is built?
Yes, though these are modest. You will need to cover hosting, typically EUR10 to EUR30 per month depending on your needs, and your domain name, usually EUR15 to EUR20 per year.
If you want ongoing support, updates, and monitoring, I offer Website Care Plans at a monthly fee. There is no obligation to sign up, but most clients find it removes a lot of hassle.
Timelines
How long does it take to build a website?
Most brochure websites take 3 to 5 weeks from start to launch. eCommerce sites and more complex builds typically take 6 to 10 weeks. Timeline depends on the scope of the project and how quickly content, images, and feedback can be provided. I will give you a realistic timeline at the start of every project.
What can slow the process down?
The most common delay is waiting on content, text, images, or logo files that need to come from the client's side. The clearer and faster we can work together on these, the smoother the project runs. I will let you know exactly what I need from you and when.
Working Together
Do I need to be based in Galway to work with you?
Not at all. I work with clients across Ireland and beyond. Everything can be done remotely over email, video call, and shared documents. Many of my longest-standing clients have never met me in person.
What do I need to prepare before we start?
It helps to have a rough idea of what pages you need, any existing branding such as your logo, colours, and fonts if available, and any images you would like to use. Do not worry if you do not have everything ready, part of my process is helping you figure out what you need.
How involved will I need to be during the project?
You will be involved at key stages, discovery, design review, content feedback, and final approval before launch. I keep the process clear and structured so it does not take up more of your time than it needs to. Most clients find the collaboration straightforward and enjoyable.
How many revisions do I get?
I include two rounds of revisions in every project. In practice, most projects are resolved well within that. I work closely with you throughout so by the time we get to the revision stage, we are usually fine-tuning rather than making big changes.
Can you redesign my existing website?
Yes, website redesigns are a big part of what I do. Whether your current site is outdated, slow, not mobile-friendly, or simply no longer reflects your business, I can help. I will review your existing site before we start and we will agree on what to keep, what to improve, and what to replace.
Platforms and Technology
What platform will my website be built on?
Most websites I build use WordPress. It is flexible, well-supported, and easy for clients to manage themselves after handover. For eCommerce projects, I use WooCommerce, built on WordPress, or Shopify depending on what suits the business best. For simpler, faster-loading sites, I also build with static site frameworks. I will recommend the right platform for your specific needs.
Can I update the website myself after it is launched?
Yes. With WordPress-based websites, you can add blog posts, update text, change images, and manage products without any technical knowledge. I will walk you through how everything works before we finish the project, and you are welcome to get in touch if you have questions afterwards.
Will my website work on mobile?
Every website I build is fully responsive. It automatically adapts to look and work correctly on phones, tablets, and desktops. Mobile usability is built in from the start, not added on at the end.
Will my website be fast?
Speed is a priority in every project. I optimise images, use clean code, and choose reliable hosting to make sure your site loads quickly. A fast website improves both the user experience and your position in search results.
SEO and Getting Found Online
Will my website show up on Google?
I build every website with solid on-page SEO foundations, proper page structure, meta titles, descriptions, and mobile performance. This gives your site the best starting point for search engines to find and index it.
That said, appearing on page one for competitive search terms takes ongoing effort over time. I can advise on what is realistic for your business.
Do you offer SEO services?
Yes. Alongside web design, I offer local SEO services to help your business get found in Google search and on Google Maps. This includes Google Business Profile setup and optimisation, on-page SEO, and local citation building. Get in touch to find out more.
What is a Google Business Profile and do I need one?
A Google Business Profile is the listing that appears when someone searches for your business on Google Maps or searches for services near them. For any local business in Ireland, it is one of the most important things you can set up, and it is free. I can set it up and optimise it as part of your project.
After Launch
What happens after my website goes live?
After launch, I will give you a handover walkthrough so you know how to manage the site. I will also monitor the site for any immediate issues. From there, you can manage independently or sign up to a Website Care Plan for ongoing support, updates, and monitoring.
What is a Website Care Plan?
A Website Care Plan is a monthly support package that covers software updates, security monitoring, regular backups, and a set of support hours for changes and updates. It means your site stays healthy, secure, and current without you having to think about it.
What if something goes wrong after launch?
If something breaks within the post-launch support period, I will fix it. After that, support is available through a Care Plan or on an ad-hoc basis. I am always reachable and will not leave you stuck.
